NINA GOKS

By the sea, a baby in arms with storm clouds overhead - my haven.

HELLO YOU, I’M NINA GOKS

I am a photographer of mothers, lovers and the chaotic joy of family life. In the thick of it and thriving.

Firstly I am mama of two sons and a daughter, wife to my talented tattooer husband and lover of all things outdoors. Find me by the sea, under the trees and wandering flower fields. My obsession with my family led me to my obsession with capturing others. It’s a dream that in just a few short years I worked into an incredible business I feel so honoured to have my name to.

I believe in mothers, creativity hand-in-hand with motherhood and making photos that hold the key to the past. One day when those dimpled hands are slender fingers, wispy hair replaced with flowing locks; there they are. The baby you held everyday that’s now an adult, the version of you you’ve left behind over and over.

My focus is filling frames with imagery mothers and parents will treasure - but that the experience of capturing them is treasure too. If you want to elevate your work, your why, editing, photos, workflow and anything in between meet me in person for a mentoring day or lets chat on zoom.

MY JOURNEY —

When Ruka was born, I saw the world with new eyes, and my life was cut cleanly in two.

A binary then and now. Priorities and concerns were reshuffled. My heart was flooded with a raw love that ached, shaped, and breathed. They say ‘it’s not that deep’. But for me, it is that deep. I see deep, I feel deep. Motherhood has become my definition. And as Ruka’s birth reminded me of the fragile impermanence of life, I found a new direction in my own.

I’ve always adored photography. Fuelled by my love of art and movies, and informed by obsessive years spent in the darkroom at school. But when Ruka was born, this affection became an avenue for expression. My boundless love needed to be given substance, and photography became its outlet.

And as I realised I could do it for myself, I wanted to do it for others. To give other mothers beautiful, emotive art that puts them in the frame with their children. Then I found a new passion - supporting women and mothers who wish to be home with their families whilst building a business to sustain their creativity and lifestyle.

MY INSPIRATION —

My work serves as a summary of all that I love in the world.

Pre-Raphaelite postures inspired by my love of classical art, framing from my lifelong love affair with cinema, and compositions mirroring movies I’ve paused mid-frame. When I work with couples, I can’t help but think of Jack. When I’m capturing motherhood, I see in them the same love that consumes me. Upon reflection, my photography is an extension of myself—a way of taking all that I love and scattering it further into the world.
